BGL Founder and Senior Managing Director Michael Gibbons is being honored as the “2022 Mayo Society Person of the Year” by the Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland for his professional achievements and support of numerous educational, religious, and civil projects throughout Ohio.
Every year, the Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland, a nonprofit that promotes and supports individuals of Irish descent, particularly with ties to County Mayo in Ireland, recognizes an individual whose philanthropic efforts make their community a better place.
As a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Mike gives his time and talent to multiple organizations in Northeast Ohio. He currently serves on the Board of Values in Action, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and on the Visiting Committee for Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management. Mike is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Global M&A Partners Ltd., in Dublin, Ireland.
“These represent only a few of the many achievements Mike Gibbons has experienced professionally, but what we admire most about Mike is the long story of hard work that began as a boy carrying the Cleveland Press, then working construction jobs as a young man in his college years. Everything in Mike’s background tells the story of sacrifice and dedication to this town and to its civic organizations,” the Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland said.
Mike founded BGL with his business partner Kevin Brown in 1989 with a single desk and a phone. Today, with more than 100 professionals and several offices across the U.S., BGL is a leader in investment banking and financial advisory services for the global middle market.
The Mayo Society of Greater Cleveland will honor Mike and recognize his achievements at its annual Green & Red Ball on September 17th in Cleveland.
