Fleming County Hospital (FCH) is a 52-bed rural acute care hospital located in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, a community approximately 60-miles northeast of Lexington. It has served the community as a district-owned hospital since 1962. FCH employs more than 250 staff members. Given challenging reimbursement and competitive environments, rural demographics, and high leverage, FCH’s financial health was suffering and its future serving the community was in jeopardy.

This case study details how BGL’s Healthcare Facilities team advised FCH during transaction negotiations, facilitating a transaction that allowed FCH to maximize repayment of its debt and also provided compliance and regulatory advisory to ensure a successful transaction outcome.
