| Business: |
AMF is the largest bowling center operator in the world. AMF Bowling UK is the second largest bowling center business in the United Kingdom, operating 33 bowling centers under the AMF brand. |
 |
| Client Objective: |
AMF Bowling UK had been part of AMF since it opened its first bowling center in the UK in the 1960s. However, following a strategic review after Code Hennessy & Simmons' ("CHS") acquisition of AMF, it was decided that AMF Bowling UK's prospects could be best exploited by a strategic investor with a focused interest in the growing UK leisure sector. CHS selected BGL and its Global M&A UK partner, to sell the UK bowling operations due to their knowledge of the leisure and retail market sectors and cross-border transaction expertise. BGL originated and co-marketed the deal. |
 |
| Results: |
BGL was able to capture a premium valuation for its client by seamlessly executing a global marketing process to strategic and financial buyers with the assistance of its UK Global M&A partner. The transaction closed within six months of starting the process and represented one of the largest transactions in the sector that year. |
