Associates at Brown Gibbons Lang & Company enjoy a high level of involvement at every stage of the transaction and frequent interaction with senior level bankers and key players in management of client companies. Our associates are active contributors during every phase of the deal process and are an integral part of the transaction team.
Some of the other areas in which BGL associates work closely with our senior bankers include processing transactions and assisting with their new business efforts.
Acting as the primary processor on a deal or proposal, an associate is expected to master all aspects of executing a transaction, creating a new business presentation, performing financial analysis and modeling, researching industries, and preparing offering memoranda and other written materials.
Associates are required to have the ability to work on two to three transactions at any one time. As they grow more experienced, associates will be expected to manage transactions with minimal supervision and also coordinate the activities of all team members, the client, the lawyers and accountants.
Generally, a law school or an MBA degree is a requirement for an associate position.
Candidates for this position should be dynamic, highly-motivated individuals with a sincere enjoyment of their work, and should demonstrate a commitment to excellence in all tasks and to the growth of the firm as a leader in the middle market.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting industry research
- Actively participating in new business development
- Performing financial analysis and valuations
- Supporting senior bankers in client negotiations
- Cultivating analyst development
- Identifying and contacting potential buyers or acquisition targets
