BGL Elects a New Partner and Expands Investment Banking Team

Brown Gibbons Lang & Company (BGL), a leading middle market investment bank, is pleased to announce today the election of a new partner and the addition of five talented professionals to its investment banking team.  “Entering our 24th year in business, we are proud to offer advancement opportunities for talented professionals seeking a long term career in investment banking, as well as entry level opportunities for those interested in the industry,” said Michael Gibbons, senior managing director and co-founder of BGL. 

Michael T. Vinciguerra  joins the most senior ranks of the firm as a newly named partner.  Mr. Vinciguerra joined BGL as an analyst in 2006 and during his tenure has worked on over 30 transactions, gaining significant experience working with a broad spectrum of clients across many of BGL’s industry practices.  “For the partners of the firm, it is always a special occasion and particularly rewarding for us to witness the professional growth, maturity and deal instincts we have seen during Michael’s tenure with the firm,” observed John Tilson, managing director and principal.  “At BGL, we provide a clear promotional path for employees who demonstrate enthusiasm, perseverance, and a strong work ethic.  After seven years of hard work, tireless commitment, and unwavering client dedication, Michael is well-deserving of this milestone, and we look forward to his future contributions to the firm.”

Michael V. Goettemoeller joins BGL as vice president from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was a vice president in the Middle Market Investment Banking Group providing investment banking execution to middle market commercial banking clients in the technology, industrials, and cleantech sectors.  Prior to entering the investment banking industry, he was an engineering manager at Texas Instruments, Inc. where he developed and executed semiconductor chip and end product software and hardware solutions. “Mike brings a wealth of investment banking and operating expertise to our team that will surely benefit our clients,” said Andrew Petryk, managing director and principal. 

Joining the Cleveland office is Casey S. Sears as associate.  Mr. Sears joins BGL after having completed his MBA at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.  Casey has previous experience working as a summer associate in the equity capital markets group at Santander Global Banking and Markets.  Mr. Sears also spent five years advising clients as a management consultant and two years in real estate private equity focusing on value-added and opportunistic investments in the hospitality sector.

BGL’s Real Estate Group welcomes Robert J. Flanigan as vice president and Michael J. Vidmar as analyst.  Mr. Flanigan joins the firm from the Townsend Group where he was an assistant portfolio manager in the Private Equity/Institutional Real Estate Group responsible for a discretionary portfolio valued at over $500 million.  Mr. Vidmar recently received his MBA and Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University and his undergraduate degree in Finance and Management Information Systems from John Carroll University.  Prior to earning his advanced degrees, Mike was a transfer pricing associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. 

Daniel P. Nicholls joins BGL's Healthcare & Life Sciences Group as an analyst.  Mr. Nicholls was previously a financial analyst with CNA Financial Corporation and is a graduate of the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business.

Michael T. Vinciguerra, Vice President and Principal
Mike Vinciguerra focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private placements, financial restructuring assignments, and valuations. Since joining BGL in 2006, Mike has gained experience working with a broad spectrum of clients across many of BGL’s industry practices, including industrials, business services, healthcare, and consumer products.  Prior to joining BGL, Mike was a finance intern at Stryker Orthopedics, where he conducted industry research and financial assessments for new product ventures.  He earned a B.S. from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Michael V. Goettemoeller, Vice President
Mike Goettemoeller focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private placements, financial restructuring assignments, and valuations.  Mike has specific experience advising clients in the technology, industrials, and cleantech sectors.  Prior to joining BGL, Mike was a vice president in the Middle-Market Investment Banking Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and a senior associate in Investment Banking with Agile Equity.  In addition to his investment banking experience, Mike enjoyed a decade long career spanning the telecom, automotive, and wireless industries including positions at Sprint, Bauer Controls and Texas Instruments.  He earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Washington, and an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.

Casey S. Sears, Associate
Casey Sears supports BGL’s senior staff with financial and valuation analyses, industry research, due diligence, and the preparation of client presentation materials. Prior to joining BGL, Casey served as a summer associate with Santander Global Banking and Markets in Santiago, Chile, working on initial public offerings of various Chilean companies.  Prior to that, Casey worked as a management consultant providing growth strategy and M&A due diligence advisory services to clients and on buy-side assignments for a real estate private equity firm focusing on value added and opportunistic investments.   He earned a B.S. in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and his M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Robert J. Flanigan, Vice President
Bob Flanigan’s areas of focus with BGL’s Real Estate Group includes real estate acquisitions, debt/equity placements, and complex restructurings exclusively within the real estate sector.  Prior to joining BGL, Bob was most recently an Assistant Portfolio Manager with The Townsend Group, a leading global investment manager, overseeing multiple discretionary portfolios where he was responsible for strategic planning, investment due diligence and execution, portfolio management, and performance reporting.  His responsibilities also included identifying and engaging new institutional client capital for the firm.  Bob also has extensive experience investing in direct property throughout all levels of the capital stack.  His previous experience also includes CMBS originations, valuations, and syndications, as well as valuations and restructurings of distressed debt and mortgage pools.  Bob received his B.S. from Pennsylvania State University.

Michael J. Vidmar, Analyst
Michael Vidmar supports BGL’s Real Estate Group with financial analysis, valuation, market research, due diligence and confidential marketing documents. Prior to joining BGL, Mike was an analyst in the Tax Transfer Pricing Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he worked on legal research, market analysis, industry analysis, and financial analysis for client transfer pricing documentation. Prior to that, Mike was a consultant in the Systems Integration and Technology Practice at Accenture.  He received a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Business Information Systems from John Carroll University and a J.D./M.B.A. from Case Western Reserve University.

Daniel P. Nicholls, Analyst
Dan Nicholls is a member of BGL’s Healthcare Group. He is primarily responsible for supporting BGL’s investment banking activities with financial and valuation analyses, industry research, due diligence, and the preparation of client presentation materials.  Prior to joining BGL, Dan held an associate position with CNA Financial Corporation.
He earned his B.A. from the University of Michigan.
